Radiomarathon Cup is an annual tradition established a few years ago, with the main purpose of raising awareness of the worthy cause of Radiomarathon.
Heidelberg United continued its winning streak in Radiomarathon Cup by winning the cup for second year in a row. The defending champions from 2007 faced a tough challenge from challengers South Melbourne Football Cup but won the game with a 2-1 score at the Bob Jane Stadium.
“I would like to congratulate not just the winners but both the teams for playing the game in good spirit and with an excellent standard of football. On behalf of Radiomarathon I thank all the players, referees and everyone else involved, for helping us raise awareness for this important cause”, said Michalis Athanasiou, chairman of Radiomarathon trust and General Manager of Laiki Bank Australia.
Radiomarathon is a charity that raises funds for children with special needs. The annual match enables the two Clubs to raise awareness for the important cause, organised each year by Laiki Bank. Laiki Bank is also a long time supporter of both
